A global chemicals manufacturing leader has an immediate opening for a dynamic Plant Manager to lead one of their most critical locations. This $400M + site manufactures various types of chemicals that support several industries including automotive, aerospace, and energy infrastructure. They’re looking for a high-potential leader with proven operations experience in the chemicals industry, someone who can take this well-performing plant to the next level.
The Plant Manager is responsible and accountable for the safe day-to-day operations of the site. This includes leading all production, quality, maintenance, and site environmental and safety performance. Additional responsibilities include the administration of all production and technical staff and sets individual objectives and drives performance improvement. The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader with strong business acumen, and a strategic thinker with a vision of significantly improving plant safety, compliance, asset utilization, and P&L.

Responsibilities:
Direct all aspects of a 3 shift, 24/7 non-union chemical manufacturing operation
Ensure all site EH&S and emergency response procedures are in place and are understood and followed by all site employees
Will manage the annual fixed cost budget to target levels
Manage all capital projects, making sure they are completed on schedule and within budget
Ensure all security issues relating to protection of the site property are in-place and maintained
Oversee all contractors who work at the plant, ensuring they follow all site safety and environmental procedures
Establish key objectives for the site employees to align with corporate, division, and functional goals and objectives
Address any performance deficiencies through strong performance management and corrective action
Requirements:
BS in Chemical Engineering, or related technical/business field
A minimum of 10 years of operations experience in chemical manufacturing
An MBA or MS in Chemicals/Chemical Engineering and a Six Sigma or Lean Certification highly desired
Prior chemical batch and continuous manufacturing experience
Experience managing large capital projects
Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze, and manage the profitability of a manufacturing plant under a P&L structure, including the ability to present results, priorities, and actions, and to engage the work team to achieve those priorities
Proven successful leadership in driving performance through lean and continuous improvement methodology utilizing visual management systems, metrics, and employee engagement
Can work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
Must have a results-oriented leadership style with strong influencing skills, is a Systems Thinker – ability to see and understand the overall picture
Must be a credible coach, mentor & teacher to all levels within an organization, from the shop floor to senior leadership
Is “Hands-on” with a strong commitment to safety, ideally with Process Safety Management experience
