An innovative, $1B supplier and manufacturer for the automotive and commercial vehicle markets has an immediate opening for a Process Engineering for Machining operations. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive process engineering direction and support to achieve current and future strategic manufacturing capability objectives. The Process Engineer plans, designs, develops, directs, and implements projects to incorporate new manufacturing equipment, facilities, processes, and technology. Additional, will lead the continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes.
Based at a flagship manufacturing plant, the Process Engineer will be engaged daily with a lot of CNC machining equipment and processes and will have a tremendous amount of influence. This plant has invested heavily in automation & new capital which is crucial to meet production demand. They are absolutely booming with business and are well positioned for the future!
Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance to plant operators, resolving any manufacturing or process engineering problems
Will create and develop new plans and processes that are efficient and cost effective to meet future manufacturing needs
Prepare capital expenditure appropriation requests including detailed engineering analysis and project justification
Manage engineering projects from the specification development, quotation, vendor selection, design, installation, debug, and production startup phases of projects
Troubleshoot production processes, and equipment, develop fixes and/or preventative maintenance procedures to address problems
Propose, develop, and implement process improvements by equipment redesign, tooling redesign, or process changes
Research, develop, propose, and implement the application of new manufacturing technologies to drive the continuous improvement of current operations
Design tooling for new products and manage the tooling procurement process for existing or redesigned products
Lead the installation of new equipment and modification of existing equipment
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
At least 5 years of manufacturing/process engineering experience working in high-volume CNC Machining operations
Demonstrated ability and experience in the development of CNC Machining processes, preferably in a high-volume automotive or industrial environment
Well versed in CNC machinery including mills, lathes, pre-stress, and related tooling processes
Demonstrated ability writing and modifying CNC programs, working knowledge of robotics and related PLC systems
Strong Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma skills
Strong analytical and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and related engineering software applications
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects/priorities
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal along with the ability to work in a team environment
