Quality Manager

 

An innovative $50M plastic products manufacturing company has an immediate need for a Quality Manager to lead all areas of Quality for their business. The Quality Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team and ensures all company products meet quality standards before they go to market or are sent to the customer. Other responsibilities include providing leadership in Quality Management and product quality for injection molding, assembly, and continuous improvement. Additionally, monitoring and evaluating the manufacturing processes, examining manufactured product for level of quality, and engaging with customers in gathering product feedback.

Responsibilities:

 

Daily management of the Quality Department, covering all facets of quality in a multi-shift operation

Will direct a team of 8 in the Quality Department which includes engineers, techs, and auditors

Will monitor and advise on the performance of the quality management system, producing data and reporting on performance, measuring against set standards

 

Collaborate with customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design and make recommendations to modify customer part specifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production

Promote quality achievement and continuous improvement throughout the company

Coordinates Quality Planning activities on new and/or changes to products and processes as well as shopfloor troubleshooting of quality problems

Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain a Quality Management System, covering production and field activities

Will audit all manufacturing processes, equipment, and employees to assure all procedures are being followed

Coordinate activities for process monitoring and continuous improvements, including audits – both internal and external

Review and disposition warranty claims in partnership with Sales, Customer Service, and Continuous Improvement Specialists

Liaison between internal and external customers in problem investigation and corrective action as well as partnering with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to resolve issues

Verify that identified dimensions, both controlled and non-controlled meet specified limit

Develop & initiate standards and methods of inspection, testing & evaluation

Assure that non-conforming materials are identified, and separated for acceptable production material

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical degree

Recognition by ASQ as a CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer), or CQ-OEM (Certified Manager Quality – Organizatinal Excellence) is a plus

At least 7-10 years of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement experience in manufacturing

Prior experience in injection molded plastics manufacturing, dealing with plastics and plastics processing

7-10 years of experience operating under a certified quality management system (ISO 9001, etc.)

Operational Excellence / Lean Manufacturing experience with a Lean/Six Sigma certification strongly preferred

Hands-on with high “shopfloor” engagement along with any required field activities

Project Management skills

Exceptional leadership skills and communication with significant team, employee, customer, and vendor engagement

Statistical aptitude with strong quantitative and analytical skills & strong knowledge of problem-solving techniques, has attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a “can-do” attitude  

Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
