A global chemical manufacturing company has an immediate opening for a Sales Director for the Americas. Open due to an internal promotion, the Sales Director will be responsible for a team of Sales Managers and close to $500M in sales revenue. The ability to work across all functions and reaching out to different functional leaders to solve problems is crucial.
The ideal candidate can mobilize a sales team to hit targets. The sales team must own their forecast and be held accountable to it. Key expectations for this role are to deliver the most accurate forecast & to hold the sales team accountable. The Sales Director also needs to walk a fine-line between fostering sales growth with existing customers and the commercialization of innovation and new products for new customers. Additionally, must understand the corporate strategy and then set a 12–24-month strategy execution plan. This job is truly about Sales Leadership!
This is a critical role and requires a lot of strategic Sales Leadership skills within the chemicals industry. It’s also viewed as a steppingstone for a future VP role.

Primary Responsibilities:
Lead a team of 6 Sales Managers as direct reports supporting the US, Canada, Mexico & South America
Drive sales across the Americas to ensure the results are fully aligned with the global strategy and business development plans and financials
Financial responsibility for over $450M sales revenue
Experience in Account Management & New Business Development
Formal account plan development (structure)
Provide strong leadership to the sales organization
Recruit, train, develop, and mentor sales managers and associates
Challenge the sales team to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team and individuals
Endure good collaboration and interface with other groups (marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, etc…)
Execute the pricing strategy by market in own area and participate actively in pricing and contract negotiations with key customers, including contract formulation to mitigate risks
Provide 0-to-18-month forecasts on a monthly basis in line with targets
Set up local price list
Can mobilize the sales team to hit targets
Requirements:
A BS degree in business administration, chemistry, engineering, or technology, MS or MBA degree preferred
A minimum of 10+ years of senior sales management experience in the chemical industry
A proven track record in sales management of a large team spread across the Americas
Must have a solid basis in financials and sales
Ability to drive business through a matrix organization
Must have good negotiation skills
Has customer sensitivity and exceptional interaction with customers
Always considers the customer’s position
Ability to simplify complex messages and convey quickly and succinctly to internal and external stakeholders
Strong influencing and communication skills to engage both internal and external teams to identify opportunities and to execute on them efficiently and effectively
Can work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
Must have a results-oriented leadership style that is a credible coach, mentor & teacher to all levels within the marketing organization
Able to influence upwards to executive leadership as well as cross-functionally
Can travel between 50% & 60%
